skilla Case Study
You’re one of the leading companies in your industry at home: time to take your brand worldwide. How do you make that happen?

Now|Comms put expanding companies ‘on the map’ within the UK
skilla has been one of the leading suppliers of learning content in Italy since its launch in 2001. In 2018 they decided it was time to internationalise, and bring their services over to the UK. That’s where we came in.

We knew there were three key areas to focus on in order for skilla to conquer the UK.
Find your ‘special’
Reflect on your brand to draw out your unique factors, that often go unnoticed as your business develops organically. During our Hackday with skilla, we noticed that what sets them apart, in Italy and internationally, is their support of many different learning formats. Their offer of ‘learning your style’ brought a fresh take to the UK learning scene, and we wanted to blow that up.

Communicate your authority
If you’re not just starting up, make sure people know that! Sure, skilla was the new player in the UK scene, but they weren’t starting from scratch: they had a fully-grown organisation back in Italy. We shaped our branding and messaging to reflect their wealth of experience at events and online, driving home their almost 20 years of expertise.

Choose your targets
To get a foothold in a foreign market, you’ve got to select your targets carefully. We worked with skilla to define a targeted audience to get the brand out to, which culminated in a ‘hotlist’ of a few hundred companies who would benefit most from skilla’s courses. In under 2 years we’ve established skilla as a personality of note in the UK, building a community for them here of over 500.
